Three Spring Things...

1.  Excited about the Easter-timely resurrection of this old orchid plant.  Kent bought it for me as a Mother's Day present five years ago.  It bloomed the year after, but hasn't done anything since then.  I thought it was dead, actually, and was just about to pitch it onto the compost pile, when I noticed one new leaf and a baby stalk...

2.  Buried under three days worth of snow, just in time for Easter.  Did someone say something about global warming?  We'd like a piece of that action, over here on the western prairies of Canada.  Ahem...

3.  Made a ridiculously rich triple-layer chocolate cake for Kent's birthday, following a recipe from Thy Hand.  It called for so much sour cream, cream cheese, sugar and peanut butter...that I'd lost my appetite for it before I'd even finished icing it.  Just imagine the heaviest, gooiest, muddiest concoction you've ever tasted- then times that by 3 layers.  So sweet it makes your teeth itch.  I'm gaining weight just writing about it.
...Found Seth's math DVD, which had been missing for 5 days, so I guess we will have to do school this week after all!  :)
